Multi-level marketing is a business model that relies on each member in the organization to be successful. In MLM, each person builds his or her own sales team to sell a product or service. Unlike traditional affiliate marketing, where you are paid a commission based on only your own sales, multi-level marketing organizations will pay you a commission for your own sales, plus a percentage of the commissions of each member who joins the organization under you.

Many people hear multi-level marketing and immediately think pyramid scheme. While pyramid schemes and MLM both pay members for the sales of members beneath them in the organization, there’s where the similarities end. In true MLMs, you are not paid primarily for recruiting other members, you are paid for the sales of an actual product, not the MLM program, and you share in your team’s revenue production.

A good way to tell a genuine MLM opportunity from a pyramid scheme is to determine if there is an actual product that has value outside of the organization. What I mean by this is does the product have any intrinsic value independent of the fact that an MLM organization is selling it, or is it used primarily as a recruitment tool to bring other people on board?If the product has little or no real-world value other than to serve as a recruitment vehicle, then the organization is likely a pyramid or matrix type scheme. Interested in multi level marketing ? That is entirely up to you. This article will explain in details what is multi level marketing and why there is so much hype about network marketing online. Basically this is just another marketing system designed like a pyramid and that is why MLM is also called pyramid scheme. Obviously the top of the pyramid makes most of the money and as the levels of the pyramid get lower the less money the members in those levels make. Just for my own curiosity sake i decided to join one of these MLM companies to see whether it is actually possible to make money with this pyramid scheme or not. I started out in a company called Quixtar. This company was based on selling product and the more product you sell and new distributors you introduce the further you will move up the ladder and obviously make more money! These guys promised me wealth and freedom but first I had to sell their overprices health products.

This is basically what multi level marketing is, you pay a join fee of two hundred and fifty dollars and more and you will be given their company product to sell, if you do not sell the product you make no money. I barely got my initial sign up fee back, it is extremely tough to sell their very overpriced products. Do not fall for MLM , there are other much better ways to make money online out there. Multi level marketing is too tough to work and you need a lot of marketing experience and background with hundreds of net workers to become successful in this business.  Read more...

There’s a lot of conflicting advice from Internet marketing experts on how to profit from the popularity of social marketing.

Social marketing is about growing your business through user-driven websites like youtube, facebook and digg (plus hundreds more).

Some advice says you should create a large number of different user identities on many sites and then start promoting your own sites to drive extra traffic.

The alternative view is that you should select one or two relevant sites carefully, building a personal profile on them and contributing value to the communities before even thinking about marketing anything of your own.

No doubt either of these methods can be effective and maybe the first one will work fastest.

But, leaving aside that it risks getting you banned by the sites, it seems a bit like joining 10 different local networking groups like the Chamber of Commerce or BNI – and rushing round them all just handing out order forms rather than concentrating on building strong relationships in one or two.

And, as most social websites are not business-focused – indeed many members have strong negative feelings about any kind of marketing or selling – it’s more like running around the golf club or the health club asking everyone to buy your products.
